St George's Chapel is considered one of the finest Perpendicular buildings in England. It was begun in 1475 by King Edward IV, finished in 1528 during the reign of King Henry VIII. St George's Chapel known as a Royal Peculiar, meaning it is not subject to the authority of a bishop or archbishop. It owes instead its allegiance directly to the sovereign. St George's Chapel is primarily a place of worship for the Sovereign and the royal family.
