During his months as an attache' he saw front line battles from Vitry-le-Francois to a point near Dunkirk; battles of the Marne and Aisne, and the struggle for Calais. As the bearer of special distpatches between the American Embassies he saw French, British, Belgian and German troops in action; and many in manoeuvres. This account is complied from his diaries and letters which he wrote day by day on the spot. Illustrated with 15 photographs by the author and facsimiles of four official documents. First Edition (Published June, 15th). Closed tear to fold out facsimile of Wood's Passport, issued by the German Imperial Foreign Office. Frontispiece of Myron T Herrick.
