Edna Ferber (1885-1968) One of America's greatest woman novelist of the 20th century. Giant, the generational story of a Texas rancher, during the early Texas Oil Boom. Made into film starring Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean which was also his last movie. Ferber was a prolific and popular novelist, she won the Pulitzer Prize in 1924 for So Big. Her other well known books include Showboat (1926), Cimarron (1929), Giant (1952) and Ice Palace (1958). Original blue cloth boards, silver lettering to spine, e.p. Ferber's initials. DW not price clipped, bluish green and brown, yellow lettering. Lower spine end rubbed and creased, upper rubbed and creased with small chips. All else very clean, tightly bound, no writing.
