From original family documents. The Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, K.G.; Hurst and Blackett, London, 1856, 2nd Edition: Memoirs of the Court of England, during the Regency, 1811-1820. The Regency period took place during George, Prince of Wales service as regent for his mentally ill father, King George III (i.e. the movie "The Madness of King George"). The Regency began in 1811 and continued until George III died in 1820. A colorful period at Court and tumultuous time in British History, with much of Europe in a state of rebellion and political upheaval. For nearly the entire first half of the Regency era, France and England remained in broiled in the Napoleonic Wars; part I begins with: "Debates on the Regency continue through the Christmas Holidays"; conduct of Lord Grenville in 1788 and 1811; speculations respecting the Government of the Price Regent, etc.; part II begins with the effect of Napoleon's disaster in Germany; Lord Castlereagh and his diplomatic Corps; Prussia, Sweden, and Austria changes in administration...politics; historic events; important States People and the Royal Court during a revolutionary period in history.
