The author's first novel, which caused a stir in Utah by exploring the conflicts between a Mormon heritage and modern society. Esther Burton Curtis inherited her stern Mormon thinking from her forebarers who settle this country, she pass her was on to her children and grandchildren. She was a domineering women who had many disappointments, caused by her own ways and conflicts of reconciling the past of her pioneer relatives to a 20th Century modern society. The hardships and struggles of the pioneer Mormons were legendary; their faith and fighting spirit create an absorbing novel about how modern day people conditioned by their background cope in a modern world; their conflicts and lives. Richard (Dick) Scowcroft, Ogden, Utah, 1916 - 2001. Born into a strict Mormon family, he was youngest of eleven children. He received his Ph.D. in English from Harvard, and wrote several other books of fiction.
