Gertrude Stein began writing about her interest and concern for the minds, thoughts and fate of the young American GI's of WWII in The New York Times magazine section, 1945. In 1946 two weeks prior to Ms. Stein's death Brewsie and Willie was published portraying the meetings and conversations drawn from these men who gathered in her Paris apartment, revealing their thoughts, feelings and apprehensions in book that personifies Gertrude Stein's unique style of observance and characterization. Jacke design by T. McKnight Kauffer. Tan cloth boards and spine. Front board B W in red, spine Brewsie Willie in red, author and publisher in black. Very slight sunning of spine and board edge.
