Demmer, Heini; Tylinek, Erich, Photographer Chi Chi the loveable Giant Panda London Spring Books 1950 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good in Very Good dj The story of Chi Chi the Giant Panda who was bought to the London Zoo in the late 1950's. Chi Chi originally came from the Bamboo forests of the Chinese provenice of Szechwan. Chi Chi is beautifully photographed throughout the book in black and white by Erich Tylinek. It's a very sweet story of her at the Zoo, and other Zoo animals make pretend reactions. Heini Demmer (Big Game Hunter) bought Chi Chi to the London Zoo from China in 1958. Chi Chi was the first to acquired by a European or American Zoo since 1939. After the cold war the Panda program became part of diplomatic relations with China. Tan cloth boards and spine, illustration of a Panda to front board, brown lettering to spine. DW green, no price, color picture of Chi Chi getting out of her bath, green spine. Edges bumped, mildly creased, few short closed tears, 1 inch chip to head of spine, lower rubbed. Flap edges rubbed. Rear DW edges also creased, 1 inch closed tear lower edge, smaller closed tear next to it, chips to corners. List of "Books on Animals".
