The Last Will and Testament of George Washington was first printed for public distribution in Alexandria, Va. 1800. ttle attention was made to the spelling, punctuation, and manuscript peculiarities of the original, with many re-publications. The first Mount Vernon publication was made in 1868 by Mr. A Jackson of Washington D.C., with the printing by Samuel Polkinhorn. The publishers preface was dated at Fairfax Court House, Va. ,where the original Will was then. This present publiscation follows the exact Jackson imprint, carefully corrected against a facsimile of the manuscript text of the original Will in Callahan;s Washington the Man and the Mason, for spelling, punctuation and capitalization, disregarding only the manuscript length line. Paraphrased from Fitzpatrick's Foreward which goes on to detail specifics of the Will. Includes the Will of Martha Washington, and her notes. Blue paper wraps, past down title panel, toning to edges and spine. Front wrap not attached, short closed tears along spine. Stain to rear wrap, hinge crack between pages 38-39. Text block is firm, and clean Mild crease to first blank page facing title. Text very clean and clear. No prior signatures or markings.
