Published for the Use of That Institution, and of Families belonging to The Episcopal Church". James Abercrombie, (Scottish ancestry) born in Philadelphia 1758- 1841. In 1776 he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and ordained to the Protestant Episcopal ministry. In 1793 Reverend Abercrombie was installed as rector at both Christ and St. Peter’s churches in Philadelphia. Noted for his writings, principally on religious subjects, “Lectures on the Catechism,” and several sermons was first published in 1807. Inscription to f.e.p., in front of book is pamphlet "A Pastor's Farewell," To the Beloved Children of St. John's free Church, Lancaster Pa. two pages on parchment like paper from Pastor Edward W. Appleton, St. John's Parsonage, Lancaster, June 21st., 1861. Overall page toning, font type readable with good size and quality. Some edge staining, old fountain pen and stains to rear e.p. Mottled paper boards, well worn and rubbed, 1/4 leather spine. Bound solidly. 238 pp. 8 vo. Price:
