"Containing also the complex collection of remedies and cures in John George Hohman's "Pow-wows, or Long Lost Friend;" In popular use since 1820". John George Hohman, German-American printer, who immigrated from German to the US in 1802. He compiled collections of herbal remedies, magical healings, and charms. He sold books, practised and instructed people in folk magic and folk religion which became known as pow-wow.
