THE FIRST PRINTERS AND THEIR BOOKS A Catalogue of An Exhibition Commemorating the Five Hundredth Anniversary of the Invention of Printing Philadelphia: Edward Stern & Co., 1940. First edition Wraps Very Good This catalogue was designed as a guide to an exhibition held at the Free Library of Philadelphia. Created to point out facts of interest relating to the 15th Century books displayed. The cover design was taken from an illustration in the Nuremberg Chronicle. The cornerstone of the exhibition was the Gutenberg Bible on loan from Joseph Widener, various books came from world known book collector Lessing J. Rosenwald; Dr. A.S.W. Rosenbach was chairman of the Exhibition Committee. Sixteen reproductions of illustrations and text, sixty-four books and their printers described.
Tan wraps, illustrated, brown lettering. Mild stain to mid spine, yapp edges bumped various short closed tears. One inch closed tear to upper joint. Clean clear text, tightly bound. In protective archival film, tapped at edges. Listing of authorities to rear. s m 4 to, 94 pp Price:
