 My collecting of books and antiques stretches back over 40 years. Growing up in Philadelphia in the 1950's and 1960's my sister and I spent many Saturday afternoon in Leary's Book Store, 9th & Market, Center City Philadelphia. They closed their doors in 1969after being in the book business for 100 years. This second location was three stories of books, books, books, perfect for getting lost in literature. Book shops were still thriving in Center City (or Town as we call it); my favorite pastime was spending the weekends browsing the treasures in these dusty old bookshops. My career was as a financial comptroller and manager of various business; living from East Coast to West, and back again. I sold and traded a few books along the way, finding many new bookshops over the years. In 2000 I managed the Curious Old Book Shop in Atlantic City, NJ; we sold general books along with a fine collection of Antique Literature and Medical books. The owner was a retired Physician, scientist and literary man, much admired in the Atlantic City area. Dr. Joe spent most of his time reading, talking to customers about books, history, art; his friends arrived around the afternoon and they all sat at a round table to discuss politics, and literature, with maybe a sprinkle of local gossip. A fascinating, brilliant and generous man who at 81 was a wonderful example of age having no boundaries in learning and evolving. The Dr. wanted to sell his building and move on to other interests. I continued on endeavoring to provide the same personal experience as we did in our little brick & mortar shop. Care of books

 I own all my inventory, maintained in a temperature controlled climate. All books are professionally cleaned and repaired professionally (when necessary).  See my link Repair & Care of Books. I can also provide buyers and collectors with professional book binders and restoration experts. My books are not musty, or damp; all books are treated for any type odor. Each book is  presented in the best possible condition.
